How is this different from the square brownies?

Same brownie, different shape. The Sourdough Salted Caramel Brownies come as a flat 9-inch slab cut into 36. This one stacks the same 36 pieces into a tower, so it stands up as a centrepiece instead of sitting on a tray.

Why sourdough in a brownie?

The starter ferments the batter, which adds a low sour note under the chocolate and keeps the sugar in check. The bite comes out dense and fudgy rather than cakey.

Is it halal?

Is there coffee in it?

Yes. Dark roast coffee goes into the batter to deepen the chocolate, so each piece contains some caffeine. Worth knowing if you're serving it late or to kids.

Is it very sweet?

No. The sourdough tang and the flaky sea salt on top both pull against the caramel, so it reads rich rather than sugary.
